As the director of the MIT’s Paul F. Glenn Center for Biology of Aging Research, Dr. Leonard Guarente believed that he could bring advances in science and technology to people through the supplement industry while still maintaining high-quality standards for his company. The result was Elysium Health—a health company  that works together with world-class scientists and clinicians to create clinically-validated health products that work.

Elysium Health’s first product is Basis, a daily supplement. Basis works to increase levels of NAD+ in our cells. NAD+ is a  coenzyme that is essential to many of our cellular functions, such as energy creation, DNA protection, circadian rhythms, and hundreds of others. NAD+ levels decline as we age.

A clinical  trial conducted in 2016 by Elysium Health demonstrated that Basis increases levels of NAD+ by an average of 40 percent in humans. The results of the study were published in the online peer-reviewed science journal npj: Aging and Mechanisms of Disease.

Elysium Health sells Basis on its website. Each jar of Basis contains 60 capsules, which is enough for 30 days’ worth of daily intake. As a result, the company sells the supplement in a variety of monthly subscriptions. A standard monthly subscription costs $50 each month. Longer subscriptions cost more upfront but offer discounts on the monthly rate.
